Rachel Price: Planning Permission. 2nd - 23rd April 2010
Price’s work is concerned with investigating the dynamic between the finite, frank nature of sculpture and the conceptually infinite but physically limited nature of the image. With Planning Permission, Price attempts to locate a point of intersection between the two, building a site-specific installation of "unfeasible architectural models” which are led by the constraints of their materials rather than by ergonomic considerations and which explore the relationship between micro and macro scales, creating an uncanny analogue of the industrial landscape of their surroundings.
Price’s work has been exhibited throughout London since she graduated from the University of Reading in 2006. Recent exhibitions include 'Skinflint' at the Lewisham Art House, 'Unthink' and 'The end is the beginning is the end', as well as projects and interdisciplinary collaborations including 'Live Sculpture' with Release the Hounds production company
