Squid & Tabernacle was an itinerant gallery set up by George Major and Hanna Sorrell with the purpose of exhibiting “work that could or should not be contained within the constraints of a conventional bricks and mortar gallery, or that has been produced specifically for the space in which it is to be exhibited… encouraging artists to launch ambitious projects that may not have been possible within the confines of their studio practice”.

Between 2008 and 2012, Squid & Tabernacle staged exhibitions, live events and film screenings in a variety of spaces including a disused tailor’s shop, a shipping container, art festivals and studio complexes.
